Using in utero electroporation, callosal projection neurons were labeled in a developing mouse brain. The cell bodies were identified from the presence of green fluorescent protein (GFP) targeted to the nucleus and growth cones were identified on the basis of density and size using the membranes labeled with a membrane-targeted red fluorescent protein (RFP).
