The CAR T cell is blue and is releasing molecules (purple) that perforate the membrane of the cancer cell (green). Enzymes (pink) that kill the cancer cell enter through the pores. The T cell recognizes the cancer cell through a chimeric antigen receptor designed to bind to a protein that is present on the surface of the cancer cells.
