Ketamine was the first compound identified with fast-acting antidepressant action. The other molecules are under investigation for their ability to produce fast-acting antidepressant effects or as precursors of compounds that have this antidepressant action. The chemical structures of ketamine, 7-chlorokynurenic acid, 4-chlorokynurenine, (2R, 6R)-hydroxynorketamine, and MRK-016 (a GABA-NAM) are shown. Structures are from PubChem. Compilation by Nancy R. Gough, BioSerendipity.
